Netflix has confirmed that The Ribbon Hero, its upcoming original anime film inspired by Osamu Tezuka's classic manga Princess Knight, will begin streaming in India and worldwide on August 8, 2026. The film will be available exclusively on Netflix, bringing a fresh reimagining of one of Tezuka's most iconic stories to audiences around the globe.

Indian anime fans will be able to watch the film on the same day as its global release. Netflix is also expected to offer the movie with multiple language options, including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs alongside the original Japanese audio.

A New Take on Princess Knight

Rather than serving as a direct adaptation, The Ribbon Hero presents a modern interpretation of Osamu Tezuka's legendary Princess Knight. The story follows Princess Sapphire, who transforms into the mysterious Ribbon Hero after her kingdom is devastated by the monstrous Nergal. Determined to protect her people, Sapphire embarks on a thrilling fantasy adventure filled with action, courage, and hope.
