Yasuaki Mikami and illustrator Kinta’s fantasy light novel series Looks Like a Job for a Maid! The Tales of a Dismissed Supermaid is officially getting a TV anime adaptation. The announcement was made by Earth Star Entertainment on October 1, 2026, along with a promotional video.
From Light Novel to Anime
Looks Like a Job for a Maid! is based on Mikami’s light novel series, originally published online before Earth Star Entertainment began releasing the novels under its Earth Star Novel imprint in July 2022, with illustrations by Kinta.
The series began as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in September 2021. The eighth light novel volume was released in Japan in November 2025.
The anime announcement gives fans a chance to see Nina’s fantasy adventure brought to life on television.
A Maid With Extraordinary Skills
The story follows Nina, an ordinary-looking maid whose entire world revolves around working for the household of Count Mirkwood.
Her peaceful life changes dramatically when she is falsely accused of a crime and thrown out of the household. With nowhere else to go, Nina begins her first journey on her own.
However, Nina is far from an ordinary maid. She possesses extraordinary abilities that soon make her indispensable to the people she encounters.
During her travels, Nina meets Emily, a mage who cannot use magic; Astrid, a talented inventor whose experiments frequently fail; and Tien, an orphan who struggles to keep food down. As Nina helps those around her, problems also begin piling up back at the Mirkwood household following her departure.
Manga Adaptation Already Available
The light novel has also received a manga adaptation illustrated by Ayahito Kumagai. The manga began serialization on Comic Earth☆Star in October 2022, with Earth Star Entertainment publishing its seventh compiled volume on May 13, 2026.
For English-speaking fans, J-Novel Club has licensed both the light novel and manga. The publisher announced the light novel as part of its 2025 lineup, making the series available digitally in English.
More Anime Details to Come
Earth Star Entertainment has now confirmed the TV anime adaptation, but additional details such as the premiere date, cast, staff, animation studio, and streaming platforms have yet to be announced.
With Nina’s story moving from the page to television, fans can look forward to more information about the adaptation in the coming months.
